Bacon Black and White Pizza


6 slices Cloverdale Applewood Smoked Bacon, cooked and crumbled

1 prepared pizza crust

1/3 cup prepared pesto sauce

2/3 cup ricotta cheese

1 cup artisan Italian grated cheese blend

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar glaze (purchase prepared or heat balsamic vinegar until it reduces into a thick syrup)

¼ cup basil leaves, chopped



Heat oven to 400 degrees.

Place pizza crust on a pizza stone or pizza pan. Spread pesto across crust and onto the edges of the pizza.  Spread ricotta across crust. IMG_9981






Sprinkle Italian blend cheese on top of pizza.







Place pizza in the oven.  Bake 10-12 minutes or until cheese is golden brown and bubbling.  Remove from oven.  Drizzle pizza with balsamic glaze and sprinkle bacon on top of pizza.  Sprinkle basil leaves on top of pizza, slice and serve warm.

Recipe makes 8 slices of pizza and can be prepared in about 30 minutes.


HINTS:  This recipe may easily be made gluten-free with gluten-free crust and ingredients.  The addition of Cloverdale ham would be fantastic on this pizza.  Top with peppers, artichokes, zucchini or asparagus for a veggie-topped treat.
