Teriyaki Pineapple Ham Burger with Golden Onions

Golden Onions

1 vidalia onion, sliced

2 tablespoons olive oil

½ cup water

¼ teaspoon salt

Burger Patties

1 pound ground chuck

½ cup grated white onion

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon cracked black pepper

3 tablespoons chopped cilantro leaves

2 tablespoons olive oil

Remaining Ingredients

½ cup prepared teriyaki sauce, reserve three tablespoons for rolls

18 slices thin-sliced Cloverdale ham

6 slices provolone cheese

6 slices fresh pineapple

6 good quality rolls

6 lettuce leaves

In a large saute pan, combine onion, olive oil, water and salt.  Heat over medium heat, stirring, until onions soften and turn golden.  Remove from heat.

In a medium bowl, combine ground chuck, onion, salt, pepper and cilantro.  Form into six patties.  Drizzle with olive oil.  Place patties on grill pan over medium heat.  Drizzle with half of teriyaki sauce.  Cook six minutes on the first side, flip and cook six minutes, or until cooked to your desired doneness. Place three slices of Cloverdale ham on each burger patty.  Top with a slice of provolone and cook until cheese is melted.  Remove burgers from pan and place on plate.

Place pineapple slices on grill pan.  Flip once and cook until grill marks form.

Set roll bottoms on serving platter.  Top each with a lettuce leave.  Place a burger patty on top of lettuce leaf, and top with a pineapple slice and an even amount of onions.  Drizzle ½ tablespoon of reserved teriyaki sauce on roll tops.  Close burgers and serve warm.IMG_0136
